Center Pointe, Indiana has an Exotic Feline Rescue Center, home to about 200 big cats representing 9 different species. The Center has tours but you’re not allowed to touch or interact with the cats. You’d be a fool to try. These are carnivores on steroids.
The cats are in large, secure fenced-in areas but once you get there and see these cats, the fences look like toothpicks strung with dental floss. The cats watch you with curiosity as they’re figuring out the best way to take you down and what part of you would be the tastiest first course. The whole time you’re there the hair on the back of your neck and your arms stands up and quivers. Your body knows that real danger is right in front of you.
The cats are majestically, powerfully beautiful but the impression they leave is the oldest one there is: the strong are going after the weak. The weaker ones (us) have to be smart and/or fast. That old expression you only need to be faster than the runner behind you comes to mind.
Intuition, being present, knowing yourself and your own inner strength is what makes those who appear less powerful able to assess and act in a dicey situation. The alternative is to get gobbled up by civilization’s Alpha Cats. You know these cats: Bosses, co-workers, lovers, family, friends. The Alphas will assess our weaknesses, triggers and strengths, make a decision and go in for the emotional kill. If we’re not clear about who and what we want, we can end up as part of the food chain.
Example? The boss says you’re not doing enough on the job or not doing it the right way (their way). You, the savvy one, know the job has serious problems and you’re doing everything you can. The choice is yours. You can take the blow to your self-worth and beat yourself up as inadequate, stupid and incompetent. Or you take the lead, asking for input, mentioning the ideas, the plan you’ve been crafting to improve the job. Even if the boss doesn’t like your plan, you’ve shown you’re on top of the situation, that you value yourself; that you are indeed competent, smart and aware.
My take on this is: no respect on the job or at home? Speak your truth, find your tribe and if need be, make a plan to get out the door. Don’t let these Alpha cats have you for lunch. You are unique and have wonderful things to offer the world. You deserve the best and there is only one person who thinks like you, who knows exactly what you need, who has your best interest at heart. Yep, that’s you. If you need someone to help you get headed toward your happier tomorrow, I’d love to help you set your dreams in motion. Let’s work together. I know you’ll accomplish great things. Send me an email and we’ll set up a free 30 minute session. Don’t wait to be on the menu before you get the message that living the life you desire is what it’s really all about.
