My friend Charlene doesn’t fear the dentist. She’s never had a cavity and it’s just a friendly visit for her. Ok, she did have a rough experience with her wisdom teeth and the pain meds, but I’m talking about the regular dentist visit, not the oral surgeon stuff.
Not me. I fear the dentist. They’re always very nice when you’re in the chair, but for some reason I have become the person where everything goes to sh*t, even the simple stuff. They must cringe when they see me as much as I do when I see them. Flossing my teeth during cleaning? Pop goes the crown. Perfect tooth extraction procedure? Welcome to dry socket misery, raging infection, head banging pain, plus a diet of mashed potatoes and broth…for two weeks.
At the last dentist visit I started screaming. Want to quiet a dentist’s office pronto? Scream with pain while the dentist is trying to numb you up so he can repack a dry socket. And, like me, cry while screaming and start to go into shock. I’d quit going but I want to keep all my teeth as long as possible. And really, my dentist is a wonderful guy and the staff there is amazing. Although I hate going I do it anyway because I know in the long run, I’m going to come out ahead.
Kind of like the rest of life right? Sometimes you do things you don’t want to do but you know you’ll actually benefit from them in the future. When hating what you do becomes about your job or your relationship or your life in general, the secret is to NOT KEEP DOING IT if it no longer fits in with your big dreams. So consider, if you’re not coming out ahead or in a better, happier place why not? How can we get you there? Leave me a comment and let me know if you’re happy doin’ what yer doin.’ Yah, don’t send me dental horror stories ’cause I fear the dentist already without help.

Oh no! So much hell for one little person! I hope you are feeling better. I’m going for a down turn as it is coming to fall. Can’t shake it off.
