Remember 5 years old? Time dragged on FOREVER and you were bored. You didn’t dare whine about it or Mom had you clean your room. Your dreams didn’t involve naps and quiet time. You wanted to be older right now so you could be an astronaut.
How about being 15? School and friends fed your needs and you were all, “Don’t bother me I’m busy.” You didn’t notice that time was fast-forwarding your life silently, effortlessly.
You had dreams about getting your license and were in a hurry to get older, like 18.
Look at you humming along in your 20 something Maserati body going about 90 or 95 and thinking you’ll reach your secret dreams later…plenty of time…after you party awhile, have a career, kids, whatever.
You’re what, almost 30, 40, 50, 60, 70? You blinked and time shifted into 6th gear and damn it how can this be? You have some serious dreams that you still haven’t reached like writing that novel, backpacking through Thailand, trying your hand at stand-up comedy or learning to juggle fire. This is your cue for a full blown life crisis where you toss out your dreams and start opting for a face lift or chasing a 19 year old to prove your worth.
Don’t do that, okay?
A 90 year old who skydives is a perfect example of getting right with yourself and your dreams. 90 isn’t the optimum age for skydiving, but there they are, courageous people who realized the truth: “I have to answer to me. If I don’t do this now I’ll be pissed at myself and know I’m a failed and fearful weenie.”
Don’t wait any longer. Your dream, your passion: DO IT NOW and quit making excuses because you’re afraid. Be afraid and do it anyway. It’s a joke to think there’s a perfect time to follow your dream. There’s no right time to start feeding your soul except maybe now. NOW is the right time. Get started now and put a muzzle on the powerful, rotten smack down of self-badmouthing that runs through your head when you know you’re missing out on something precious because you’re afraid to fail.
If you fail it means you failed a task, NOT that you’re a failure as a person. The Universe has a million tests to make sure you’re chasing what you have your heart pledged to. Show the Universe you’re as serious as a heart attack.
Tell incredible stories about your wild and crazy life full of things you just couldn’t resist attempting because you followed your heart. Laugh about the things you DID do, the memories of successes and colossal failures. That’s way better than feeling empty because you never risked being foolish, failing and standing strong. Gift yourself with a life so well lived that your stories are endless weavings of laughter, heartache and joy.
And it’s never too late to start. Start now.
