The other day I heard someone remark, “You are what you eat.” Since I was eavesdropping, I didn’t feel right asking, “Hey, are we talking only food, or can we include things like anger, disappointment, humor, weightlifting, books by Jodi Taylor or Netflix?
.
I’m now declaring, by the power invested in me by me, that the term “eat” includes food plus all the other things we love to assault our bodies with during any given lifetime.
.
I do gobble up books and love to learn new stuff, so I guess I’m a partial book. And I’m sure that at least one of my legs, maybe both are filled with chocolate. It’s possible there are a few G&Ts, scotch and bourbon somewhere accessible.
.
The laughter I’ve consumed is in the belly explaining conveniently why I’ve developed a little pudge that refuses to go away.
.
Pasta with olives, garlic, lemon, and basil is definitely in the right arm. Other food is in the left. Love of travel and love in general is all throughout the chest. And I could go on, but where’s all the icky stuff we eat? Like disappointment, fear, shame, and self-flagellation? That I regret to say is in the head.
.
It would be great if we could banish this stuff from our head and fill it instead with singing or dancing or something more fun. Problem is you gotta deal with this stuff to get it to shut up and give you some room to expand your mental capacity for fun and love and all that good stuff.
.
I know! Let’s create a Make Space In Your Head Day. We can look at one thing in our minds that needs to take a hike and resolve to replace it with something more fun, more personally rewarding. Whatever you want. Now, what day should we choose? How about May 14th which is Dance Like a Chicken Day? Seems appropriate to me.
